DERRYAUN CRAFTS WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Dear Crafters,

I will be running workshops from my stand in the crafts marquee. Anyone wishing to take part is advised to book a place as soon as possible as numbers will be limited due to space restrictions. Workshops are 1 hour long and cost €15.00 for felt making and €20 for basic jewellery making. This includes use of equipment and materials, so come along and learn a new craft!

Felting kits, wool, books and gifts will be on sale from the stand.

Feile Na Tuaithe - 24th and 25th May

Location: Museum of Country Life, Turlough, near Castlebar.

The West of Ireland’s favourite family festival is back: Féile na Tuaithe – Turlough Park takes place at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May 2008.

Now in its fourth year, this free festival has proved itself to be a favourite with all members of the family attracting up to 12,000 visitors over the two days. Attractions for 2008 include children’s activities, a Sports fest for older visitors, rare breed cows, displays by working spaniels and music. A full programme of demonstrations and workshops is scheduled and there are marquees for both craft stands and food stalls. Further details available from the Marketing Dept.      Workshop Program (Saturday and Sunday)

12.30pm till 1.30pm. Needle felting – Design a felt picture, learn how to use a felting needle to attach wool fibre onto a base fabric to create a flat woolly picture. This craft involves using a very sharp needle and is not suitable for children, minimum age 14 years. Cost €15.00. Includes materials.

2.30 till 3.30pm. Dry felting – hearts and flowers, learn how to ‘sculpt’ wool fibre into three dimensional shapes using a felting needle, this workshop will give you the basic techniques and inspiration to try it out at home. You will soon get hooked on this new craft, with a bit of imagination this craft has endless  possibilities! This craft involves using a very sharp needle and is not suitable for children, minimum age 14 years. Cost €15.00. Includes materials.

 

4pm till 5pm. Introduction To Basic Jewellery Making – make an eye catching bracelet. Using colourful glass beads, learn step by step how to arrange them, string them and attach a clasp fastener. No experience needed. Cost €20.00.  Includes materials.
